Updating Generated IdP metadata?

In this document, it notes:

   Generated IdP metadata is NOT dynamically generated
   The IdP metadata generated at install won't be dynamically
   updated if you change the Identity Provider's configuration
   or certificates. It is your responsibility to maintain this.

which I believe I need to do, but this document doesn't say how to do so. How, exactly, does one go about updating the generated IdP metadata?
