To Cluster, or not to Cluster

Our institution is evaluating upgrading to the latest stable release
of the Shibboleth IdP.

Part of the requirement, is to have a number of IdP instances, running
behind a load balancer.

- we will only support SAML2 (SAML1 not allowed)
- we will most likely support SLO (knowing the issues involved)

With the above high-level requirements, can be run a couple of IdP
nodes, behind a load balancer, without IdP clustering?
