Very helpful. Since we had the new certificate working on the web server, we put back all the self signed certs. which we thought was obsolete and it seems to be working now.

If you mean the browser-facing SSL certificate, nothing. It's outside the IdP, unused by it, and entirely up to the web server. You should refer to your web server's documentation.
