Custom DataConnector test harness?

Is there a test harness or any how-tos for writing junits for a Custom DataConnector?  I am following https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/SHIB2/IdPDevExtDataCtr, and there are enough places to trip that I would like  to have a full suite of tests, especially verifying the namespace config etc.

I presume the java-idp-common/src/test is the the place to look, but is there some guidance or examples written up any place?
