Embedded Discovery Service: MetadataProvider missing or does not support discovery feed

I have EDS installed on an SP, the following message is logged, when I
access the page to select the IdP (no IdPs are listed).

The SP's 'shibboleth2.xml' configuration is pointing to my
federation's metadata (I copied the federation's metadata from an
earlier instance which uses the the federation's WAYF service) - I
would like to use EDS as we are morphing away from federation, is the
error caused by my federations metadata?
