Well, I wouldn't say that it does a "similar job". We simply got rid
of the observable concept in v3. IIRC in v2 we had above that
AbstractMetadataProvider, or something, and that is more or less
what AbstractMetadataResolver is in v3. Things that inherited from
AbstractMetadataProvider in v2 inherit from AbstractMetadataResolver
in v3.<br>
