My only kludgy thought was to initiate the push, transition to a view 
state that would display a "waiting on push, click here to cancel" 
screen, then after a timeout have that automatically submit a proceed to 
check the push, which would then either transition to success or 
redisplay the wait screen. If the JavaScript disabled the cancel button 
before auto submitting the proceed event, a user could never (heh, 
never, hah, be much less likely to) break something. The trade-off of 
course would be be back and forth between the browser and the server.
