SP 2.6.1 build against OpenSSL 1.1.x

Hi,

I was attempting to build SP 2.6.1 against OpenSSL 1.1.x on Debian 9.x
when the build of XML-Security-C failed.

I looked at the OS packaged version of XML-Security-C and saw they
continue to build against OpenSSL 1.0.x so I did the same and the build
completed fine (for all the necessary SP dependencies and the SP itself).

I looked at http://santuario.apache.org/cindex.html but I do not see any
mention of OpenSSL 1.1.x API support.

Does this mean that the SP doesn't "support" OpenSSL 1.1.x yet?

If so, any thoughts about when that might happen? My guess is RHEL 8
will drive it and probably nothing sooner. Is that correct?

(This is not a security question of course...I am just planning some
other work and thinking about when I can make the transition to OpenSSL
1.1.0).

Thanks,

Scott K
