SP Startup takes 20+ minutes

Oh basically I just want to use this script and a tag of the form:

<MetadataProvider type="XML"
file="incommon-metadata-verified.xml"></MetadataProvider>

inside my shibboleth2.xml file where "incommon-metadata-verified.xml" is the
file my bash script downloaded and verified.

Since I am not an experienced user, would you recommend it's worth the wait
when I restart (where shibd handles the download/verification/retries etc.)
rather than go for the bash script and shibboleth2.xml modification?
