I'm kind of confused. IDP-808 is phrased as if the intent is to entirely remove the old namespaces, which would presumably break existing configuration files. Didn't think that was permissable in a minor version?

If that *isn't* what we mean, if instead we're allowing the various constructs to be expressed in new and simpler ways as an alternative (while perhaps deprecating the old scheme) then a conversion XSLT isn't required. So that seems inconsistent.

Having said which, <pattern-a> becomes <pattern-b> is pretty trivial in XSLT, so if we want one of those it would be easy to create.
