springMacroRequestContext

The template file error.vm contains referenced to $springMacroRequestContext
(mostly to grab message contents), but later templates appear to use
#springMessageText for a similar purpose.

I'm struggling to find the documentation for either of these (any hints
appreciated), but would it be fair to say that error.vm is out of date and
should be rewritten to use #springMessagetext?

It would be great if I were able to point to the Spring documentation rather
than to try and explain what is going on here.
