I think I asked Chad once and his idea as that in the scenario,
depending on where the dep was declared (1 POM vs many etc), you might
just override the dep version from the parent in the specific place(s)
where the dep was used. That was probably preferred over having to
change the whole stack to use a different parent.
Updating a third-party lib for a bug in a patch release was viewed as a
very exceptional case, I think.
