Oddness in SVN

I'm getting strangeness with SVN:

When I try to commit from eclipse (2.0.4.I20150123-1700) I get:

When I update from eclipse it works.

When I update from the command line (version 1.7.7 (r1393599)) I get:

'https://svn.shibboleth.net/java-identity-provider/trunk': Could not read

But I can commit from the command line.

I'm guessing that the best bet is to check out and start again?
