No, I did not change the distribution nor the testbed.

Locally only, I added Selenium to the java-idp-testbed project and
worked around the SecurityManager impl exception in code.

Yes.

And, a vanilla Tomcat 8 installation does not include Xerces, so the
distribution we ship works out-of-the-box, AFAICT.
