You could try setting your own timeouts. There's an example of that here:

It's hard to be more specific without seeing your configuration.
The other question you should be asking is why you are seeing a timeout at all. Even if we accept that the default should not be five seconds, it's unusual to see a timeout unless there's something wrong with the server you're talking to, or it's just overloaded. Again, the details matter and we don't know them.
