Oh, I see. Actually, I sort of wanted to do that myself in some cases,
it's kind of annoying having to put a dummy value in.

It's all a trade off obviously, but compatibility with Java 8 may warrant
it. But then you add potential confusion by creating a difference in
workaround approach between versions, and that has downsides.
