Integration between Shibboleth and simpleSAMLphp

Hi,

I aim to create an integration between Shibbboleth and simpleSAMLphp, and I
intend to implement a web service or something (using sockets, for example)
as an alternative to the settings in the metadata files already known. Is
that possible? If yes, what are the functional requirements of a system that
would allow this integration?
