AFAICS the current failures in the IdP and OpenSAML) are due to some oddity/incompatibility in the Sun provided Xerces.

To my great pleasure there are many other on the team who do understand Xerces and schema handling, thus obviating the need for me to learn it.  Hence I cannot give a diagnosis, but I will observe that putting the old endorsed files ahead of the Sun ones in the class path make the problems go away and the failing tests pass (at least on the IdP).

Of course there may be further failures down the line.
