requirements

Dear Community!

At first excuse me for my bad english, but i'll try
to explain my problems as good as i can.
At the end of the next week i have give a lecture
and have to write down an paper (10-15 sites) with
the topic "Requirements to develope webapplications with
shibboleth authentification (instead of a "classical" database 
authentification).

I know it's not easy or maybe it's impossible do create "the recipe" to
resolve this problem concretely with code examples or so on and its very 
complex,
but i'm sure, that it must be possible to create abstract requirements or a
common thread. The target is that a programmer read this paper and knows,
what to do.
I would be very happy if you can help me to design such a requirements 
catalogue.
My knowledge about the functionality of shibboleth in general (IdP, SP, 
SAML...) is
acceptable/good.
Can you give me any tips, links or other resources?
(the environment is an IdP with ldap-connection and the webapplication 
will be
implemented in javascript).
