I suppose currently that's true, since I don't yet use git at all.  It's
been on my todo list for a while to sit down and learn it.  I'd like to
do that anyway, regardless of whether and when we switch.

I guess the main issue for me is:  We have a lot of time, brain share,
etc invested in svn.  If we're just going to wind up using git in a very
centralized way similar to the way we use svn, it's not clear to me that
it buys us much, or at least justifies the cost of switching.  So as Ian
pretty much said, in order to derive benefit, we need to change the way
we work and git-mify.  Since I don't know the technology yet, I don't
have any sense in what that is, what the benefits how, how much it
applies (or not) to the way our team works, etc.

When I took a mini-seminar on git several years ago at OSCON, I did find
the terminology and concepts of git confusing. Maybe it was just the
teacher.  I haven't gone back to it since then, so that's
(unfortunately) my current last impressions.  When I get some more time
with it, I'm sure my comfort level will increase.
