Pretty comprehensive.  I added a note pointing to something that talks about the <beans> defaulting at the config file level rather than the context, and fixed some typos.

I still like your earlier summary: parent templates and post processor beans seem like ways to reduce clutter without making things incomprehensible.  I guess if you make the post processor look to see whether a property is already set, you can still override that, too, something which I hadn't thought of before and which makes me like the idea even more.  Trying some of these things and comparing what they look like is probably the best way to know, though.
