The viewpoint is from the people willing to respond to the questions. If
you think there's a viewpoint missing, I guess you would have to take that
up with the people who you think should be providing it.

I will note that the project has never to date had any mechanism for
driving its planning other than the developers. Now that it nominally
exists in a more concrete form, there's a members list being set up (it
exists now, just isn't used yet) and I suppose that's one answer to the
question.

It feels like you're saying "the developers are misguided and the plan is
off-base and their funders need to be told that". In which case my
suggestion would be that this is still an appropriate place to do so. If
you don't think they'll hear that feedback, then I would say that sending
the board direct communication as individuals is the best choice.

But it's not off topic for the dev list, which is not just about
developing the software but also about the project's plans and work.

Nothing in my response pertained to implementation other than to explain
why it is not a practical work item at present unless the code base is
revised as planned. I thought my response was a pretty direct answer to
the question.

I don't think it's unusual for a code base to go through (at least) 2-3
rounds of substantial revision to reach maturity. I can't help whether
people are willing to wait or not, but it doesn't change the reality of
the situation.
