Will an SP have to know whether to send the protocol extension or the 
original protocol to a specific IDP? Presumably based on the IDPs 
metadata ?

So an application would have a single method to trigger both kinds of 
logout ( by redirecting to Shibboleth.sso/Logout ), and the SP would 
send the appropriate msg to the IDP ?
