Update on 2.5 progress

I just made what's hopefully going to be the final check-in apart from bug
fixes. My plan is to spend time this week on more testing, primarily on
Linux, do a load test and valgrind check, final build check on Solaris,
and look at shipping early next week.

I would really appreciate any Windows testers willing to give the RC
installer(s) a try. I'm more concerned about the installer doing something
wrong than the code itself there.
