Problems with Windows updates April 2012 and MSI uninstaller

One of our universities encountered problems after the latest Microsoft
Security updates from 10. April. After the (automatic) Windows updates,
they could not start Apache again. Only after they disabled the
Shibboleth (2.1) module in Apache, the Apache could be started again. It
is unclear yet what caused the problem. But still, it may be that other
installations are affected as well.

They then updated to 2.4.3. After the update things still did not work.
They suspected that the installer did not remove all files/registry
entries. After another remove and re-install, things seem now to work again.

It could be that the uninstaller issues are related to the problems
described in the Wiki and could be resolved by the new installer:
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/~rdw@iay.org.uk/SPWiXDiscussionDesign

In any case, they suggested that there should be an uninstall/removal
script that deletes all traces of Shibboleth, even from previous versions.

Kind Regards
Lukas
