<td class="text-paragraph-pattern-container mobile-resize-text " style="padding: 0; border-collapse: collapse; padding: 0 0 10px"><p style="margin: 10px 0 0; margin-top: 0">Discussed on today’s dev call (2022-09-16).</p><p style="margin: 10px 0 0">Idea is to move <repositories> and <pluginRepositories> to a Maven profile, which is not activated by default.</p><p style="margin: 10px 0 0">Preference is to configure repositories either in the POM or settings.xml, but not both. So, work includes moving all of the repository definitions (POM or settings.xml) to a profile, and updating the documentation for developers.</p><p style="margin: 10px 0 0">Perceived benefits are tracking changes to repositories (via git rather than wiki documentation or actually hosting artifacts) as well as less changes to CI nodes.</p><p style="margin: 10px 0 0">Although we rarely depend upon third-party snapshot artifacts, this should be the least effort to activate/deactivate those repos.</p><p style="margin: 10px 0 0">Probably should communicate this change to third-party developers (who depend upon our artifacts) as activating a profile may be easier ( ? ) than configuring settings.xml.</p><p style="margin: 10px 0 0">And again, the whole point of this is so that there are no technical blockers to prevent deploying our artifacts to Central. (But we still have the indemnification/legal blocker)</p></td>
