I got it working by editing the system beans (mvc-beans.xml) but that's not a visible file, so maybe what I'm doing is incorrect.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Secondly - it is by no means obvious to me how one actually adds the language to a URL - or least certainly not for a SP original flow. Adding &lang=de to the URL at login and reloading (from firefox) doesn't do it for me because the rpUIContext isn't regenerated. This is not a big deal for me, I kludged it in by hand for the test. Obviously deployers can and do get it to work.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">So then we come to the code.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">It seems that a lot of what Spring is doing is mirrored by the same work inside of RpUIContext. Therefore I could guess that we might rewrite rpUIContext (and the handling of all other language sensitive structures ) in terms of Spring's capabilities. However we are using the language priority list stuff (e.g. "de,en-us;q=0.7,en;q=0.3") and as far as I can see Spring is using an ordered list ("de, en-us, en"). his is quite apart from the impedance mismatches all the way down the line.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Quite how useful the weighting is remains to be seen but right now I'd sooner avoid going back to older technology. Further, the rewrite feels completely out of scope for a minor release (particularly since it is spec-breaking) and keeping it API consistent might be a pain.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">In the immediate it looks as thought I can kludge it by trying to detect whether spring has any additional wiring configured and if so adding its preferred language to the head of the weighted list that the browser gives back. I have a prototype for this but I am going to sit on it for a while and maybe chat to the other devs about the wider issues of I18N. Also whether we need this overloading to be configurable.</p> </td>
