This is not something we intended, and it's not clear that the origin of the term "blacklist" supports that interpretation: however, asking our users to research obscure 17th-century playwrights so that we don't have to be more sensitive doesn't seem like anything near the right balance.</p> <p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">Besides, in many cases there are simply better words, and we have used "blacklist" lazily. This is particularly true in stages where a "blacklist" collection property is modified by a "whitelisting" property and a "isWhitelisting" getter. A collection property named after the <em>type</em> of collection element, coupled with a boolean property named similarly to "removing", "preserving", "including", "excluding" is just a better design.</p> <p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">I think we should make an effort to review this and address all affected components for 0.10: that is, after all, an opportunity for API tweaks and "if not now, when?". One option that is worth exploring now that we have a formal deprecation device introduced for IdP 3.4.3, would be to use that for the old setters and getters (the fields themselves are of course all <tt>private</tt>) with a declared intent to remove those for V1.0.</p> </td>
