I'd be happy to switch the languague the EDS uses (and prefers from metadata) based on some server-side change (trigged by the client selecting the language manually in the application). So far the only way I could think of doing that involves running one copy of the EDS per language, removing all <em>other</em> languages from each such instance (hard-coding each EDS to one lang) and then loading a different EDS instance based on language selection done in the application.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">With manual language selection offered by the application (and every application supporting more than one language really should have that, as automatic detection without recource will not always be perfect) relying on content negotiation for the EDS will cause weird effects anyway, e.g. look at <a href="https://filesender-test.aco.net/" class="external-link" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" style="color: #3b73af; text-decoration: none">https://filesender-test.aco.net/</a> – switching the language in the upper right will not switch the language used by the EDS UI itself, nor will it switch the languages of the IDP display names shown. So you change to German but then still have to look for "Universität Wien" by typing (parts of) "University of Vienna" (or vice versa, depending on detected/selected/fallback language used by the EDS and the language selected in the application).</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Of course the EDS might add its own manual override/language selection feature inkl UI element. While that would work for "isolated" instances of the EDS (i.e., those not related to more complex web sites/applications that already have such a feature) it would still be weird selecting the application language at <a href="https://filesender-test.aco.net/" class="external-link" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" style="color: #3b73af; text-decoration: none">https://filesender-test.aco.net/</a> in the upper right corner and <em>then again</em> somewhere within the EDS UI, possibly with both offering different sets of languages.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Unfixable? Mark as wontfix?</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I see no good solutions here.</p> </td>
