We do have a registry method <tt>isRuntimeSupported(URI)</tt>, which evals whether the algorithm is effectively supported at runtime by the currently running system (do you have a supporting JCA provider installed, etc). I think that isn't literally what Ian is asking for - is X <b>in general</b> a valid encryption/signing/digest algo? The runtime-supported set will obviously be a proper subset of that.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">But I guess it's <b>maybe</b> an interesting idea to use that, since you perhaps arguably wouldn't want to dynamically apply an algo to an SP's metadata if you yourself in fact did not support it practically speaking.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">So if that's what we want, then yeah, we can already do that.</p> </td>
