<td class="text-paragraph-pattern-container mobile-resize-text " style="padding: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; padding: 0 0 10px 0"> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0; margin-top: 0">The OATH code relies on the token seeds that generate the OTP codes being embedded inside encrypted strings fetched from a directory, which seems like a reasonable trade-off in terms of how the IdP could get the values, while still avoiding them being stored in the clear.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I don't know if other MFA schemes will need something similar or not, but rather than have the OATH login code dealing with the decryption of the strings, I'd rather have something generic built in that takes values from a source and decrypts them out of the resolver, so the use cases for it don't have to duplicate work.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">For now it's one set of code either way but it might save time later.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">The OATH example is more generic than my DataSealer is, but I suspect using the DataSealer will end up being more expedient to use and since the IdP is reading data encrypted for its own use I don't think we have to support a million encryption modes when GCM is the new best practice anyway.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I tagged it 4.0 just for now, don't know if I'll spend the time or not.</p> </td>
