It can be removed in the same method.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I don't think that I agree that the preRequestedAttributeNames should go into the AttributeResolutionContext because</p>

<li>I don't see how to configure it because</li>
<li>AFAICS the AttributeResolutionContext has no lifecycle outside ResolveAttributes (and we don't want the configuration to be there because that is non-reloadable). Also I don't see how to do said configuration without properties which sort of sucks.</li>
<li>As an aside, the ResolveAttributes class has a setCreateResolutionContext method which I don't see being ever called. Is there a purpose here beyond future proofing which I have missed?</li>
</ul> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">My suggestion (which is far from architecturally pure, but I don't see an alternative) is to add the getPreRequestedAttributeNames method to the attribute resolver itself, then ResolveAttributes#execute can query that to do a the pre-resolve. The setting can be done via the usual spring parsing.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I suppose that at that stage you could arrange for the Attribute Resolver to do the first run itself. This then moves us from going into the webflow actions entirely and make testing a shedload easier. Extra points for making the attribute work context survive the first run and be an input to the second, which might save time in the resolution. But neither the "easy to test" nor the "make it faster" thing carry much weight. I'd sooner do it right and let those two worry about themselves.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Another reading of your proposal was that is was to adjust the web flows to call ResolveAttributes multiple times via a specialized setAttributeContextCreationStrategy as per the AttributeSourcedC14NFlow and a persistent AttributeResolutionCOntext, but that is an area where I don't feel too confident in meddling and hence one I dislike..</p> </td>
