Sigh. All metadata providers listen to this (via the abstract provider). If it fails to initialize (i.e. throws a ComponentInitializationError) then the provider either doesn't initialize or carries on. This can be hidden for the inlineMetadata provider (since the broken XML is at the same level as the service and so the failFast attribute never gets looked at at the provider level. But pointing a bad XML file at a FileBasedMetadataProvider with <tt>failFastinitialization</tt> set does cause a perfectly valid metadata provider to happen. I have confirmed this with tests.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Apologies to all for the misleading information.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">So the question remaining here is whether we want to rename the configuration attribute (IMO in V4 this is waay off base for 3.4.5 if its to be built in 48 hours), or just leave it. The rest is just grunt work.</p> </td>
