But I'm also uncomfortable about exporting the data connectors as part of the AttributeResolver Interface. That was an appropriate hack because we couldn't change the API - and anyway when we started V3 we thought that attribute resolution might involve knowing about attribute definitions and data connectors. There is <b>certainly</b> no reason to export the attribute definitions in V4 - this is not least because we are intending for data connectors to do something very similar to attribute definition attribute definition (of a type).</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">But I'll accept that we need to do something about the jsp.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I don't want to export the data connectors again, but we might have to because of upgrades, if people have taken the jsp and hacked at it then they will break.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">What would be perhaps nicer, but perhaps more controversial is to separate out the concept of reloadable subsystems. Then we add "getReloadableSubsystems()" to the Service Interface with a suitable default implementation. Things like the resolver service would implement that method. I guess we could do the same for the metadata service and there may be others.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">If we had to continue to support old jsps (and I fear that we do) we could deprecate the getDataConnectors method.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">This feels a bunch cleaner, but maybe it is or is this over-grandiose?</p> </td>
