I was gung-ho to just remove the generic typing from <tt>net.shibboleth.idp.attribute.resolver.dc.MappingStrategy</tt> and just making it all works on objects.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">This is much cuter. </p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I particularly like the way that people who decide to write one of these beasts to plug in (<a href="https://issues.shibboleth.net/jira/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=serac%40vt.edu" class="user-hover" rel="serac@vt.edu" style="color: #3b73af; text-decoration: none">Marvin S Addison</a>'s starting point) have to buy into the LDAPtive version that we use, (which they have to anyway) but everything else is 'clean'. It <b>does</b> put the work onto the deployer, but I'd say that that is where it belongs, and most importantly (which is where I came in) it avoids us tying ourselves in knots in the documentation.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">My only observation would be that you <em>might</em> want to add a comment to the <tt>AbstractSearchDataConnector#setMappingStrategy</tt> (and indeed any generic setter inside the data connectors) to warn against overriding this with anything other than the explicit parameters.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0"> </p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">And then I have more doubts. We <a href="https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/IDP30/LDAPConnector#LDAPConnector-Externally(Spring)DefinedContent" class="external-link" rel="nofollow" style="color: #3b73af; text-decoration: none">document </a> all those funky types you can specify in the bean file, we do not document any impl class, far less any setter names, but the documentation assumes that setters for these types will be available. Where does that leave us with our API contract? I don't know.
