</div> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">This is happening because Java 7 doesn't have a trust store that by default includes Let's Encrypt, so we're overriding with one which does have that but doesn't have roots for certain other sites.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">The lines above appear to be the result of parts of Maven acquiring knowledge of other repositories (other than ours, or Maven Central) from the POMs of dependencies we pull in (from our own repository). Under some circumstances, it is tries to access artifacts in those other repositories before trying ours.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">There are various aspects to this that may need attention:</p>
<ul>
<li>Obviously we could make this problem disappear by adding appropriate roots to our override trust store, for example by adding Let's Encrypt to the Java 7 default, or importing the trust store from a later version of Java.</li>
<li>It's concerning that we are even looking at these other repositories. Perhaps we should explicitly disable them in our parent POM. I don't know whether that would help, but it might be worth trying.</li>
<li>It's also concerning that someone can introduce a random repository like this and us not have a way of knowing (short of blacklisting) that things might be picked up from there.</li>
