The port designation in a <Host> element controls how the software applies settings to a request based on the logical value(s) and not the physical ones.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">It is never correct, and either does nothing or possibly creates a security hole, to specify a different port in both places. It simply doesn't make any sense, on the face of it.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Metadata generation is irrelevant. You can't generate metadata in real systems, and to the extent that you want it to work there are options in that handler to override information about the host(s) you want endpoints generated for.</p> </td>
