<td class="text-paragraph-pattern-container mobile-resize-text " style="padding: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; padding: 0 0 10px 0"> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0; margin-top: 0">So this is fairly nasty and I would say that as a general matter, trying to get non-fail fast behavior for the services as a whole is going to be very hit or miss.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">This specific "bug" had to do with the way exceptions are handled in the spring-extensions service class and I widened it to catch Exception and rethrow as ServiceException. It is <b>possible</b> to adjust things as a whole and get a fail-fast metadata source to fail up front but have the whole service config reload and correct itself.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">But this only works if you also comment out the metric bean that pulls metrics from the metadata resolver service, much like people see those errors now when the attribute resolver startup fails and breaks the metrics bean.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I don't have a good way to fix this, probably we need to wrap the metrics layer itself in a service so it can "fail" but start up. It's more turtles basically.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">What you <b>really</b> want here is to make the individual metadata sources non-failfast. That's going to work much better than letting them throw and trying to suppress the failure at the service layer.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">The actual title here is misleading, it's not defaulting wrong.</p> </td>
