You can just build one and populate it and put in the context. Note in particular that the <tt>List<RequestedAttribute> getRequestAttributes()</tt> method returns a mutable list of child <tt>XMLObject</tt>, so that's how you'd add values as opposed to a setter (setters are generally supplied for single-valued properties)</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">On the use of the object metadata: You're correct in that, with the exception of <tt>MetadataPKIXValidationInformationResolver</tt> and <tt>MetadataCredentialResolver</tt>, all insertion is essentially done in a single-threaded context (i.e the <tt>NodeProcessor</tt> impls). I think the reason those two use the read lock and then write lock pattern is that the map is fundamentally not thread-safe between the get and put ops. Those method impls are not atomic (see all the indexing, etc) and the underlying backing map is also not of the Concurrent- variety. So there exists the possibility of corruption and/or behavioral weirdness if a get happens simultaneously with the put - which absolutely can happen at runtime, with multiple threads calling those resolvers.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">On the other readers, I think you are probably correct that to be strictly correct, they should use a read lock. I was initially thinking just now that they were ok as written without the lock, because the index keys they use to get are all only populated in a single-thread context. In other words, the indexed type they are reading is <b>not</b> ever written by multiple threads.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">But I just realized that the multi-map lock is over the whole multi-map, not over each separate indexed type etc. So because of the common storage used in the multi-map for all indexed types, we probably need to lock always when reading if there is ever any possibility of concurrent writing of any multi-map data going on - which there is, of course, in the 2 -Resolvers.Add</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Since that's going to be a PITA to do everywhere, and hard to remember: given that <tt>LockableClassToInstanceMultiMap</tt> is a sub-type, it might make sense to just override <tt>get</tt> there and do locking transparently. Unless that doesn't work with callers that are explicitly locking (have to check, but I think is ok b/c the lock impl is re-entrant) in which case maybe we add a new <tt>getWithLock</tt> that does the locking. I'll add an issue for this.</p> </td>
