That's a documentation issue in part, but also a bug in <b>your</b> code.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">You should be using the BasicParserPool class provided with our library set and anything else is off limits if you want the code to work the way it's intended.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">In a formal sense, what we're planning to do, which is what this issue reflects is twofold:</p>
<ul>
<li>Document the actual parser settings that are mandatory for use with this code, which include disallowing DTDs, entity references, omitting comments, and coalescing CDATA. That will hardly matter given how much documentation we have, but it will go somewhere.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Improve the unmarshaller for now with a change that throws on nodes that will break the algorithm so that anybody with the bug in <b>their</b> code is rendered non-functional.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Eventually we may replace the bad code so that it can handle the other node types and less restrictive parsing, but that isn't a priority.</li>
</ul> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">There are no plans to do any of that work as part of a security advisory or patch. The "fix" here is to stop parsing the XML yourself and use our code to do it. Whether there will be an advisory released to that end and to highlight the documentation change is up to others on the project.</p> </td>
