In V3 we decided to trust them to get it right, because we could fix this post ad-hoc. If a 1.1 release introduced a breaking change we could change the name of the next version (the one that used the new DLL).</p> <p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0"> </p> <p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">However, this doesn't allow for other products also shipped OpenSSL. The ApacheLounge Apache build is one such. It is easy to construct an environment in which Apache might end up using "our" OpenSSL dll and then badness might occur.</p> <p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">To avoid this we need to reintroduce some uniquification to make our DLLs look unlike everyone elses. The Debug build is safe (because we add the Windows standard 'D' to the dll names and no-one else does. But w need to some "something" for the Free/Release builds. 'R' onto the name perhaps? or "ShibbolethDist" in the name? I don't care.</p> <p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">The work involved would be</p>

<li>Amend the build mechanism (as per <a href="https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/OpenSAML/OpenSSL" class="external-link" rel="nofollow" style="color: #3b73af; text-decoration: none">this link </a>). The change is trivial to derive from the change we already make for the Debug build</li>
<li>Amend the openssl*.bat files</li>
<li>Change the component GUIDS for the Release build (and the debug one if we do that)</li>
<li>Change the definition of the file names, as per the <tt><?define></tt> statements at the top of the <tt>OpenSSL-x??.wxs</tt> files</li>
