I'd however still expect the Apache worker process reaping to work around leaks in the worker processes.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I've just had a look at what would easily work on RHEL/CentOS hosts.</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">CentOS 7 comes with rsyslogd listening only on a socket, so SyslogAppender to localhost would only work if the rsyslod configuration was changed to also listen on port 514. So this might end up diverting too much from a simple setup?</p> <p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Another option might be using a ConsoleAppender for mod_shib. I've had a go - I was expecting the output would go to Apache error_log - it sent to /var/log/messages (where the system logging was taking all console output from httpd as log messages from httpd, and prefixing it with timestamp and "httpd").
