But I think you are correct in that there is still a problem, as in 1) some thread is executing destroy() 2) another thread could be waiting on the monitor to call refresh() 3) the destroy() finishes, the refresh() thread acquires and executes, and 4) bad things happen. Do you see another problematic scenario?</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">Given all the stuff that is nulled out in doDestroy() and parents, I think you'd actually just get an NPE. But still not good. Probably better to handle gracefully obviously.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">Probably the thing to do is: refresh() should logically terminate as a no-op if the component is destroyed. We often do that check in other public methods of components with 'ComponentSupport.ifDestroyedThrowDestroyedComponentException(this)'. I think this is just an omission because the code predates v3.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">Maybe since this is an "expected" timing/concurrency issue, though, perhaps we shouldn't throw an unchecked, but rather just terminate ("if (isDestroyed()) return"). Thoughts?</p>
