<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">I was attempting to add the ability to reference an ExecutableSearchBuilder via Spring in the LDAPDataConnector schema, which I did successfully in the RelationalDatabase case, and I ran into what I think is a mistake in the Spring parser.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">When I pulled the SearchFilter element out of the XML to test the indirect use of a Spring bean to construct the builder, the tests failed because they're expecting the ldaptive SearchExecutor object to contain a copy of the text of the search filter.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">I found this code in the Spring parser where the SearchExecutor is built in createSearchExecutor:</p>

<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">Basically it injects a copy of the text of the search into a SearchFilter object and sets that into the SearchExecutor.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">But the design of the LDAP logic is that the search filter is dynamic and it gets built on the fly and passed at runtime into the SearchExecutor, and that overrides the statically configured copy. So I think that copy is unnecessary, and so the need for the SearchFilter element in the XML goes away (which it should because we want it to be derived from the Spring bean and not the custom XML, as with the JDBC case where we want to remove the Query).</p>
