<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I don't know why any of those changes would cause this problem, but it seems to me that the most likely culprit is the Kerberos usage. That doesn't exactly make sense, but it's the only variable that's in the right area of the system and that doesn't get routinely tested (and certainly not by me). So if there's a regression, I would bet that's where it is.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">That said, it still makes no sense. The "back-end" check is run after the login form is already displayed, so it doesn't make sense that changing which back-end were used would impact the display of the form. So I'm still lost, I'm just grasping.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">What I would suggest is, given that you have LDAP there, maybe you could try quickly configuring a test of the authentication using LDAP to do that part instead of Kerberos, and see if anything changes. If you don't have the passwords in LDAP, I still think swapping back to ldap-authn-config.xml and seeing what the login form comes up with would be instructive.</p>
