<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">More of a Friday conversation probably, just to discuss options, I have a pretty good handle now on what it's all doing.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I think the dist suffix came from the SP, and while I don't know if I had a great reason for it then, I think the main idea behind it was to have a clear indication when diffing files which one was the default version. If you're looking at two identical trees and filenames, you tend to get a little lost, or at least I do.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">But that was one reason I was a little uncomfortable moving webapp under it without following that convention, and after sleeping on it I'm warming to just doing some all this up in idp.home the way it already is and minimize the changes here.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">As to your last question, the reason is for comparison. It lets people see the changes we make across upgrades after installation. One of the complaints from GakuNin was that we didn't have that same pristine copy of the webapp/ tree, so partly I was trying to address that gap.</p>
