<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Further study and experimentation have yielded very little improvement in the configuration by removing some properties. In particular, many of the properties can't easily be pulled back into XML because they're shared across a couple of different contexts, some very low level (e.g. flow definitions).</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Some of the properties are a bit silly and probably should have been left in XML, but they're not really a majority and the desire to centralize all of the transient/persistent behavior is what I ended up with, and I think that was probably the lesser evil at this point.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">So we're left with the original salt problem, and that's going to be tricky. Adding the setter is easy, but there's no way to know which setter to call. Ideally we could look for a </p> {B64}
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0"> prefix or something, but that wouldn't be compatible if somebody actually had a salt with those characters. Nobody does but...</p>
