<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">On further consideration I believe I can do this with all CAS ticket types on one condition: that I have a custom DataSealerKeyStrategy that can manage a large set of keys (thousands or millions) and performs key generation and invalidation frequently. I need this to satisfy two conditions:</p>
<ol>
<li>
The only way to remove a ticket is to invalidate the key used to encrypt it.
</li>
<li>
I need to generate a ticket ID and share it with the client <em>prior</em> to "storage" for the proxy-granting ticket part of the protocol, so I would need to immediately revoke the key if the proxy authentication step fails.
</li>
</ol>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">I can imagine an implementation that scaled to thousands or millions of keys, but it's the rate of change that's the problem. If the keys change on the order of individual http transactions, as would be the case for above, then the keystore would itself become shared state that has to be synchronized among IdPs and we gain nothing. <a href="https://issues.shibboleth.net/jira/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=cantor.2%40osu.edu" class="user-hover" rel="cantor.2@osu.edu" style="color: #3b73af; text-decoration: none">Scott Cantor</a>, do you see any solution?</p>
