<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">It turns out that in the rush to get old and new style relying-party.xml parsing done we introduced an element of duplication in the factories which create Credentials.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">I <b>think</b> that I need to go through and, in a compatible manner, combine them. At the same time we could chose to move the factories for BasicCredentials and Inline Credentials from impl to spring.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:10px;; margin: 10px 0 0 0">Some observations:</p>

The FactoryBeans used by the custom parsers can take input as (multiple) resources or inline (all of one or all of the other you cannot mix and match with an inline public key and a resource based private key)
</li>
<li>
The FactoryBeans used by the custom parsers can create <tt>BasicCredential</tt> as well as <tt>BasicX509Credential</tt>.
</li>
<li>
The custom syntax also supports supplying CRLs to the <tt>BasicX509Credential</tt>
</li>
<li>
There is a minor impedance mismatch in methods between the public FactoryBean (<tt>BasicX509CredentialFactoryBean</tt>) and the custom parser one (<tt>X509ResourceCredentialFactoryBean</tt>) (arrays vs singletons, <tt>String</tt> vs <tt>Char[]</tt>)
