<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Defining data sources globally is exactly the intended approach. Whether they're global-global or just shared within a service is situational, but the old notion of defining them inside particular plugins is a bad one.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Most deployers using databases should be defining them in global.xml or creating their own datasources.xml to import into that file.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">The retry logic here is not in the DataSource, it's in the JDBCPersistentStoreEx wrapper object that has to be auto-instantiated by the StoredId connector, so that's where any configuration has to be added, but I'll look at whether we should allow for bean injection.</p>
<p style="margin: 10px 0 0 0">Technically I guess you could define both the data source and the wrapper in global.xml and share them between the NameID management and resolver services. But there really isn't much reason to use the new NameID feature while using the StoredIdConnector, they're mutually exclusive (new vs. old).</p>
